Airplane Weathervane – Handcrafted Aviation Legacy for Your Garden & Home! ✈️🌿
"From Cockpit to Workshop: A Pilot’s Promise to Keep Your Skies Legendary"

Hi, I’m Tom Nicholson.
For 23 years, I flew C-130s through sandstorms in Afghanistan and blizzards over Alaska. When I retired, I missed the roar of engines and the stories etched into every aircraft. So, I chose to set up a studio specializing in making aircraft weather vanes.
Now, I forge weathervanes not just as decor – but as tributes to the planes (and crews) that shaped history.

How We Produce It?
We produce all the products in our own factory with a plasma cutting machine, then the items are painted in a special oven with the powder coating.
Each model is scaled, cut, and welded by my hands – no apprentices, no shortcuts.

Inspired by the classic Boeing Stearman biplane, this aluminum airplane whirligig brings early aviation charm into the garden. With a fuselage length of about 17 inches, it’s sized to stand out without overpowering your yard display. In the slightest breeze, the propellers begin to spin, turning a simple gust of wind into a moving centerpiece. Each piece comes with a small mounting pole for easy placement in planters, lawns, or flowerbeds, and new builds can be made in the color scheme and number markings of your choice.

Modeled after the beloved Cessna 120/140/140A series, this handmade aluminum airplane whirligig turns a backyard breeze into a living tribute to classic light aviation. With a fuselage length of about 22 inches and a wingspan around 20 inches, it has a true “ramp-ready” presence in the garden without feeling oversized. Each aircraft is fabricated from aluminum, riveted together by hand, and no two are ever exactly alike—details evolve from build to build as the design is continuously refined. Beyond the spinning motion, the charm is in the realism: navigation lights, antennas, gear-leg steps, wheel pants, and metal-look control surfaces give every piece its own personality. These examples were customer commissions and have been sold, but new builds are made custom from your reference photos, with your choice of colors, N-number, and specific details, typically completed in 1–3 weeks.

Inspired by the Howard DGA-15P’s golden-age profile, this handmade aluminum airplane weathervane/whirligig brings polished vintage aviation character to the garden. With a fuselage and wingspan of about 19 inches, it’s compact enough for patios and planters, yet bold enough to read clearly from across the yard. Each piece is built by hand and continually refined, so no two are ever exactly alike. Signature details set this model apart: rubber tires, a scallop-style paint scheme, ladder steps on each side, a rounded engine face, and a large polished spinner that catches the light as the propeller turns with the wind. This exact build was a customer commission and has been sold, but new versions can be made in any colors you choose—and personalized with your N-number and preferred markings.

Modeled after the PA-28 Cherokee 235 / Dakota, this handmade aluminum airplane whirligig turns your yard into a moving nod to classic general aviation. With a fuselage length of about 23 inches, it has a strong presence as garden art while still fitting neatly into lawns, flowerbeds, and patio planters. Designed to spin smoothly even in a light breeze, the propeller brings steady motion and shine to outdoor spaces. Each build is fabricated and painted by hand, so no two are ever identical—color layouts, detailing, and finish continue to evolve as the design is refined over time. This exact piece was made for a customer and has been sold, but a new one can be created in any two colors you choose, matched to reference photos you provide, and personalized with your N-number and preferred markings when possible. Most customs are completed in about 1–2 weeks, and expedited builds may be available depending on workload.

Modeled after the iconic Robinson R22, this helicopter whirligig is a kinetic yard sculpture built from aircraft-grade 6061 aluminum, hand cut and riveted together. Designed for real motion, both the main rotor and tail rotor spin smoothly even in a light breeze, turning your garden wind into an aviation-inspired display. The body is solid aluminum, while the rotors use durable plastic blades fitted with brass bushings for easy, consistent rotation. Each piece mounts on the included pole, and the 18-inch mounting system is designed for flexibility: use the adapter to extend it with standard conduit from a home center, or remove the adapter and screw it directly to a pole, fence, or eave using the pre-made holes. The examples shown have been sold; new builds are made in the single color you choose, typically in 1–2 weeks if not in stock, and will be similar—but never exactly identical—as the design continues to be refined.

Modeled after the Piper Tomahawk PA-38-112, this handmade aluminum airplane whirligig turns a classic trainer silhouette into kinetic yard art. Built from aircraft-grade 6061 aluminum—hand cut, fabricated, and riveted together—each piece is created with the same care as a small-scale airframe. With a fuselage length of about 23 inches and a wingspan around 22 inches, it has a balanced, true-to-life presence in gardens, flowerbeds, and patio planters. This particular build was commissioned from customer-supplied photos of their full-size aircraft and has been sold, but new versions can be made from your reference photos or from a color scheme and design you describe. Because every one is handmade and the details are continually refined, no two are ever exactly alike. Most customs ship in about 1–2 weeks, and new models are always being added based on customer requests.

Modeled after the Piper Cherokee PA-28-140, this handmade airplane whirligig transforms a timeless general-aviation silhouette into moving yard art. With a fuselage length of about 22 inches and a wingspan around 20 inches, it’s sized to read clearly in the garden while still fitting naturally into flowerbeds, lawns, and patio planters. The examples shown were customer commissions built from reference photos and have been sold, but your order can be created from your photos or a detailed description—complete with your preferred paint scheme and N-numbers. Because each piece is handmade and the design is continually refined, no two are ever exactly alike; yours will be closely similar, but never an exact duplicate. Most customs take about two weeks to complete and ship.

Modeled after the Aeronca Chief 11AC, this compact airplane whirligig brings classic taildragger charm to the garden in a form that moves with the wind. Built from solid aircraft-grade 6061 aluminum, it’s hand crafted to hold up outdoors while keeping a clean, vintage profile. With a fuselage length of about 16 inches, it’s ideal for smaller yards, planters, or porch displays—subtle, but instantly recognizable to general-aviation fans. This particular piece was made to match a customer’s specific full-scale airplane and has been sold, but a new one can be painted in any color you choose. Because each build is handmade and painted, yours will be very close to the example, yet always slightly different as details continue to evolve. Custom builds typically take 1–3 weeks to complete, with possible expedited options depending on workload—see the rest of the fleet (Champs, Cubs, and more) for ideas and inspiration.

Celebrated as one of the most elegant passenger aircraft of the 1950s, the Lockheed Constellation brought long-range air travel into a new era of style. This wind spinner captures that golden-age silhouette in classic TWA livery—an early launch operator—while nodding to the many airlines that also flew the “Connie.” Crafted from poplar wood, finished in acrylic enamel, and detailed with crisp vinyl striping and lettering, it’s designed to read beautifully even at a distance. Measuring about 16 inches long with a 16-inch wingspan and 4 inches in height, it’s a compact showpiece that comes alive when the wind hits. Mounting is simple and flexible: the spinner includes a 6-inch, 1/4-inch diameter rod that inserts into the fuselage, while the yard stake/post is left to your preferred setup (instructions included for common box-store stakes). For outdoor longevity, each finished piece is coated with Sunguard™ UV protection, with re-coating recommended every 4–6 months for best results.

When someone drives by, they’re bound to marvel at this Airplane! That’s really cool!
